The Lost Sheep!

Ninety-nine sheep were safe in the fold,
But one was away on the mountains bare,
On the hills, far off from the gates of gold,
Also away from the tender shepherd's care.

The shepherd goes in search of the lost sheep,
Uphill, down dale or in to desert or deep wood,
To rescue the lost one,he finds no rest,no sleep,
At last when he finds, rejoices the shepherd good.

He invites the pariah of the community to celebrate,
"Rejoice with me,I've found my sheep that was lost",
On one penitent sinner rejoicing in heaven be great,
The repentance brings joy that would never exhaust.

Ninety-nine righteous make no cause for celebration,
One repentant sinner does that is heavenly emotion.
