Psalms In Haiku Poems

Psalm-71

I take refuge
Your righteousness rescues me
My Rock and Fortress.

You are my hope
My confidence from my youth
My only reliance.

Don't reject me
In my old age, forsake not
My enemies talk.

Praise your wondrous works
I am old and gray-haired
Forsake me not.

You did great things
Love who is like you?
You will let me live.

Praise you with harp
I sing to you with the lyre
My lips shout for joy.

Psalm-72

Mountains shall bring
Prosperity,hills bring
Fruit of righteousness.

Breaks the oppressor
They fear as long as the sun
And the moon endure.

He waters the earth
He will come down like rain
On the mown grass.

Righteous shall flourish
Until the moon is no more
Abundance of peace.

They shall bless him
Abundance of grain in the land
His name endures through.

Praise the Beloved
He does marvelous deeds
Blessed be his Name.

Psalm-73

God is good
To those who are pure in heart
My steps slipped.

The wicked wear
Pride as a chain around neck
Violence as dress.

Eyes bulge with fat
They speak conceit and malice
Arrogance galore.

These are the wicked
At ease they increase in riches
But end as a dream.

I am ever with you
You have held my right hand
Your counsel guides me.

They shall perish
Those who are far from you
The unfaithful.

Psalm-74

Rejected us why?
Recall sheep of your pasture
People of Mount Zion.

Your foes did roar
Behaved like men wielding axes
Thicket of trees cut.

They have burned
Profaned the place of your Name
Love's sanctuary.

O God how long
Enemy blasphemes your Name
Why draw back your hand ?

Opened spring and stream
You dried up mighty river
Day and night is yours.

The light and the sun
Earth and borders you made,also
Summer and winter.

Psalm-75

We give thanks to you
Your Name is so near
For your wondrous works.

The earth
And its inhabitants quake
I hold its pillars.

God is the judge,
Puts down one, lifts up the other
Cuts horns of wicked.

Psalm-76

God is known
Name is great in Israel
He dwells in Zion.

The valiant plundered
They have slept their last sleep
Men of war are down.

Who can stand
In your sight when
You are angry.

Make vows to Love
Your God and fulfill them
Praise be to God.

Psalm-77

My cry goes to God
I cry to God for help
He listens to me.

I sought the God
In the day of my trouble
My soul groans.

My eyelids open
In trouble I can not speak
Remember my song.

Your way
God is in sanctuary
Love does wonders.

The clouds
Poured out rain, sky thundered
Your arrows flashed.

Thunder,your voice
Lightnings lit up the world
The earth trembled.

Through the sea
Through the great waters
Your footsteps not known.

Psalm-78

Turn your ears
My mouth speaks in parable
Our fathers told.

Tell the children
Not to forget works of God
Let them hope in God.

During battle days
Did not keep the covenant
Defied God's law

He split rock
Gave them drink abundantly
In the wilderness.

Out of rock
Brought streams caused waters
Run down like rivers.

Can God prepare
A table in wilderness?
Spoke against God.

Opened sky
Rained manna on them to eat
Food from heaven.

He rained also flesh
Winged birds as the sands
Of the seas.

Chose David his servant
Took him from the shepherd
To be shepherd.

Psalm-79

The ignorant
Defile the Holy Temple
Unrestrained.

They oppress the poor
Through deception and greed
Ends in destruction.

O My Presence
How long will you be patient?
Cry dormant spirits

Open the hearts of all
We call upon your Name
For new consciousness.

The blood innocent
Who have spilled repent
Make reparation.

We give thanks to you
For all come generations
Submit to your hands.

Psalm-80

O My Beloved
Give heed to your people
Our Guide and our Light

Compassionate One !
Enliven people with peace
Justice flourishes.

Lord restore
Let your face shine upon us
Teach us to love.

O My Master
Help us to turn to you
In prayer.

Plant your seed
Uproot the weeds of our sins
The soil of goodness.

A tiny acorn
The secret of mighty oak
Is the food of Love.

Be glad
Where your seed has found
Fertile soil.

One healthy plant
Much more its return
Than useless weeds.
