Psalms In Haiku Poems Author's Note

Author's Note

The Book of Psalms commonly referred to simply as PSALMS,is a book of the Hebrew Bible.Taken together they are 150 poems that do express Israel's religious faith.

Psalms originally means " Music of lyre " or "Songs sung to harp ".Psalms include Songs of Thanksgiving,Hymns of Praise,Psalms of Prayer.Psalms attract the people of all faiths,provides peace, harmony and healing.

Psalms as such are poems,I brought this into Haiku Poems of the Japanese pattern ( 5,7,5 ) and format.These Haiku Poems do not deviate from the original tempo,essence,significance and reverence and all that.

Me a paraplegic patient on wheelchair,psalms for me is a way of living which inspire my soul and take me near to our Lord Jesus Christ.Psalm will continue to inspire from generation to generation,foundation to foundation and congregation to congregation.

Praise the Lord
From heaven and praise him
In the heights.


You praise the Lord
All his angels ,all his hosts
Praise him.


Praise him
Sun and moon praise him
All you stars of light.


Praise him
You heavens of heavens
And you waters.


Praise the name of Lord
For he commanded and
They were created


Praise the Lord
From the earth you dragons
And all deeps.


Praise the name
Fire ,hail, snow ,vapour and wind
Fulfilling his word.


Praise the name,
Mountains and all hills,fruitful
Trees and cedars.


Praise the name
Beasts,cattle and creepers
And flying fowl.

Kings,people,princes and judges
Of the earth.

Israel rejoice

Lord takes pleasure

I cry unto you
Give ear unto my voice
Make haste unto me.


O Lord set a watch
Before my mouth,keep
The door of my lips.


Incline not my heart
To the wicked let me not
Eat of their dainties.


Let the righteous
Smite me,it shall
Be a kindness.


When their judges,
Overthrown in stony places
They shall hear my word.


My eyes look to you
In you is my trust,leave not
My soul destitute.

While I escape

I cried to the Lord
With my voice to the Lord
Make supplication.

Spirit in distress
Overwhelmed me within
You know my path.

Wherein I walked they laid
A snare for me.

Cared for my soul.


You are my refuge
And portion in the land
Of the living,Lord!


Deliver me

I will extol you

Great is the Lord

In wilderness in desert
No city to live.

Terror by night
