Two men went up into the temple to pray,
One was a Pharisee and the other,a tax collector,
Pharisee thanking in prayer with pride did say,
"I am not like the rest of men who are extortioner,
The unrighteous, adulterer and robber,
Why not, I am not even like this tax collector,
I do fast twice a week and I pay my tithes ever",
He spoke highly of himself, despised all other.
The tax collector stood afar, didn't even lift his eye,
Up to heaven but beat in humility his breast,
"God be merciful to me,me a sinner"he did decry,
Only the tax man was justified being the humblest.
He who exalts himself will ever be humbled,
He who humbles himself will never be stumbled.
